River Song's Journal

First meeting, sort of
River had been at the university for a month now and this was her first archaeological dig on a small planetoid close the one they were usually based on. She was what was best described as overeager in her brand new pristine spacesuit that her parents had bought her just before she’d started uni. She carried a little box containing all her instruments. Not quite trusting those provided for this dig. She’d been in the practical classes and seen what they had been handing out, equipment that either did nothing at all or was so well used the slightest effort would break it into pieces. River rather liked the old fashioned tools, choosing to use fine brushes rather than the highly technical lasers some of the others seemed to favour. She liked the hands on approached, like to get her hands dirty.

She was currently kneeling a little way off from the rest of the students, listening to and watching what the lecturer was saying from her communications devise. She wasn’t really listening of course, the man was entirely too dull and she knew what she was doing. She’d been interested in archaeology since she was a child after all, she doubted there was all much he could be saying that was important, not in the first real practical lesson.
