1:17a | Greetings from Samarkand! For once I actually have the weekend off, so I've set off on a last minute adventure. It's a lovely city of domes and minarets and technicolour bazaars. Uzbekistan is cold this time of year, but the welcome from old friends was warm enough to make up for it. If I'm not back on Monday, I've likely become horrendously lost in the bazaar, or gotten in trouble for saying something unfortunate. My Uzbek is nearly nonexistent and my host informs that my Farsi has gotten lamentably rusty. Must work on that. |
